Sustainability at Hotel Gundolf
At Hotel Gundolf, we combine sustainability, comfort, and accessibility to create a modern living space where our guests can feel at home while making a positive contribution to the environment.
electric vehicles
For guests with electric vehicles, we offer a convenient e-charging station directly on site. This promotes the use of emission-free vehicles and makes it easy for our guests to practice environmentally friendly mobility.
photovoltaic system
Our photovoltaic system generates clean energy from sunlight, reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. We can produce almost 60% of the electricity we need ourselves. The Pitztal Valley is also home to Europe's highest photovoltaic power plant on the Pitztal Glacier. The plant uses solar energy to generate clean electricity and reduce CO2 emissions.
Public transportation network
Thanks to the excellent public transport connections, with a bus stop right in front of the hotel, CO2-neutral travel is easily possible.
Energy efficiency and resource conservation
Energy-saving lighting:
Modern LED lamps are used throughout the hotel, significantly reducing energy consumption while still creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Sustainable energy sources
Our hotel uses sustainable energy concepts such as solar energy and heat pumps to minimize CO₂ emissions and make sensible use of the natural energy of the Pitztal valley.
Intelligent heating and cooling systems
To save energy, we rely on intelligent technology: heating and air conditioning systems switch off automatically when windows are opened or rooms are not in use. This ensures that no unnecessary electricity or heat is consumed.
Efficient water consumption
In our bathrooms and public areas, we use water-saving fittings and dual-flush toilets. In addition, we use rainwater wherever possible to further reduce water consumption.
Waste prevention and recycling
At Hotel Gundolf, we focus on sustainable concepts to reduce waste and conserve valuable resources. Our goal is to preserve the beautiful nature of the Pitztal Valley—for us and for future generations.
Zero-waste concepts
We avoid single-use plastic wherever possible. Instead, we use refillable soap dispensers in our bathrooms and reusable water bottles that our guests can use during their stay.
Recycling stations
Well-marked recycling bins are available for our guests so that recyclable materials such as paper, glass, and plastic can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner. Together, we actively contribute to waste separation.
Preventing food waste
We minimize food waste by carefully planning our purchases and using leftover food for staff meals. We are also exploring opportunities to collaborate with food-sharing initiatives to distribute surplus food in a meaningful way.
Sustainable materials and equipment
At Hotel Gundolf, we make sure that sustainability is also reflected in our choice of materials and furnishings. In this way, we combine comfort with the responsible use of resources.
Natural cosmetics
Our bathrooms are stocked with environmentally friendly toiletries that do not contain microplastics. These high-quality natural cosmetic products are not only gentle on the skin, but also on the environment.
Eco-friendly bedding
We use organic cotton bedding for our guests, which is sustainably produced and characterized by its high quality and allergy-friendly properties. This ensures a healthy and restful night's sleep.

Awareness raising and guest involvement
At Hotel Gundolf, we want to not only delight our guests, but also inspire them. That's why we actively involve them in our sustainability measures and create opportunities for them to engage with important issues.
Green Guest Program
Our Green Guest Program gives our guests the option of foregoing daily room cleaning. This way, we help save water, energy, and cleaning products together—a simple but effective contribution to environmental protection.
Transparency and participation
We place great value on transparency: our sustainable measures are communicated openly, and we invite our guests to actively participate in them. Whether through recycling, the conscious use of resources, or participation in our programs—every action counts.
